Before shooting an important job, we recommend shooting a
test image for our Digital Camera 30x40 Test print. This test print
made on our photographic paper printers will illustrate to you what size,
quality, and color you can expect from Bullock Professional's real Endura
photographic printers.
- Use ISO 100 (We recommend using the lowest ISO
possible. Higher ISO settings will increase digital "noise" in the
final enlarged images much like higher speed film creates grain.
- Set the camera resolution to: Large/Fine
3072x2048 Low JPEG Compression
- Perform a "Custom White Balance"
The Custom White Balance is set by
shooting a picture of a white card that fills the center circle on the
viewfinder. When you select the Custom WB option from the menu it asks
you which stored image you want to use to calibrate the color
temperature. You should keep this setting and use it whenever you are
in the studio with these lights.
- If you have connected the D60 to
your computer and created and saved at least one set of custom
parameters to the camera - you will have this menu option available.
If no parameters exist then this option doesn't show up on the menu.
We recommend making one parameter to use with Color, Contrast, and
sharpness ALL SET TO NORMAL.
- Record these settings so you will always know how
your camera was set for the test print.
- Setup for a vertical head and shoulders shot in the
studio under studio lighting.
- Be sure camera is critically focused and the
exposure is perfect.
- Take ONE shot of the subject at these settings and
copy it directly to a CD. (Do Not open or manipulate the file in any
way before sending.)
- Place the CD in a Bullock Digital work order
envelope. Note on work order that this is for a "30x40 Digital
Camera Test".
- We will print a 30x40 print that shows the center
strip of your image in 30x40, 24x30, 20x24, 16x20, 11x14, 8x10, and
5x7 print size.
- Once you have your print back, you can determine
what size, color, and quality these settings will yield when sending
images to Bullock Digital for genuine photographic prints.
- In the unlikely event that your 30x40 is
unsatisfactory for some reason, please call Don Bullock to discuss
changing your camera settings and running another test print.
- Important - Once these settings are established it
is very important that you do not make changes unless you run another
Digital Camera Test Print and verify the new settings will yield a
satisfactory result!
