Designed for wedding photographers and professionals, the EOS 20D digital
SLR combines speed, image quality and ruggedness with compact size and light
weight to deliver the highest performance in its class. The EOS 20D has a
new APS-C (15.0 x 22.5 mm) 8.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor designed and
manufactured by Canon. It is the first mid-range digital SLR to offer
high-speed continuous shooting of five frames-per-second with a burst of 23
frames at highest JPEG resolution. Very robust - the camera starts up in
0.2-second and has a shutter release time lag of only 65 milliseconds.
The all-new 9-point AF unit with high-precision cross-type sensor raises the
bar on speed, accuracy and precision in mid-range SLRs. The new AF system
has one full stop better low- light performance than its EOS 10D
predecessor. The new E-TTL II autoflash metering system, inherited from
Canon’s EOS-1D Mark II professional model, takes into account the distance,
reflectance and position of the subject for highly stable, accurate and
intelligent exposure calculations.
The EOS 20D digital SLR is both smaller and lighter than the 10D model. The
20D camera is about 3.6 ounces lighter and Canon reduced the width, height
and depth by 5.7, 2 and 3.5 mm, respectively. The shutter unit, mirror box,
main mirror, pentaprism, focusing screen and viewfinder optical unit have
all become smaller as they were optimized for the APS-C sensor. The 20D
digital SLR has nearly 100 fewer parts than the 10D model. The new camera
retains the rugged stainless steel chassis and magnesium alloy body covers
of its predecessor for outstanding durability.
Before shooting an important job, we recommend shooting a
test image for our Digital Camera 30x40 Test print. This test print
made on our photographic paper printers will illustrate to you what size,
quality, and color you can expect from Bullock Professional's real Endura
photographic printers.
-
Use ISO 100 (We recommend using the lowest
ISO possible. Higher ISO settings will increase digital "noise" in the
final enlarged images much like higher speed film creates grain.
-
Set the camera resolution to:
Large/Fine ~3.6MB (3504 x 2336)
-
If your test is done under studio lighting,
set the white balance to "Flash"
-
If your test is done outside/environmental
or with on camera flash like at a wedding, set the white balance to "Auto"
-
We recommend making one
parameter to use with Color, Contrast, and sharpness ALL SET TO NORMAL.
-
Color Space: sRGB (Adobe isn't
recommended since may yield flatter color rendition)
-
Record these settings so you will always
know how your camera was set for the test print.
-
Setup for a vertical head and shoulders
shot in the studio under studio lighting.
-
Be sure camera is critically focused and
the exposure is perfect.
-
Take ONE shot of the subject at these
settings and copy it directly to a CD. (Do Not open or manipulate the file
in any way before sending.)
-
Place the CD in a Bullock Professional work
order envelope. Note on work order that this is for a "30x40 Digital
Camera Test".
-
We will print a 30x40 print that shows the
center strip of your image in 30x40, 24x30, 20x24, 16x20, 11x14, 8x10, and
5x7 print size.
-
Once you have your print back, you can
determine what size, color, and quality these settings will yield when
sending images to Bullock Digital for genuine photographic prints.
-
In the unlikely event that your 30x40 is
unsatisfactory for some reason, please call Don Bullock to discuss
changing your camera settings and running another test print.
-
Important - Once these settings are
established it is very important that you do not make changes unless you
run another Digital Camera Test Print and verify the new settings will
yield a satisfactory result!
