Tips
BPRocs
(ROES) runs within the robust and secure
Java platform. If
BPRocs (ROES) stops working as it should, a file using Java may have an
error.
This is why it's important to periodically follow the 3 steps below which
will refresh the application.
These processes also insure that BPRocs
(ROES) is up to date with the latest version.
-
Avoid
shutting down BPRocs (ROES) using Windows Task Manger as the
Auto Save feature will not work.
It's always best to let BPRocs close using
the "exit" button (not the "X") and allow time for it to close on its
own which creates the Auto Save.
-
Clear both Caches from within your BPRocs
(ROES) If you have BPRocs already running, click
on the blue question mark in the lower left hand corner of the
BPRocs
window. A short list of options will appear. Click on the 'Clear
Cache' option. When the warning window appears, click 'ok'.
On the
drop down list in that window, select the last option, “Clear Both
Caches". This will close your ROES software and remove all traces
of it from your system. It's important to give it a couple of
minutes for this
Clearing both Caches won't affect your application preferences,
templates, or stored order information.
Open BPRocs to see if your issue has been resolved. If not,
proceed to the next step below.
-
Remove
and install the latest version of Java (it's pretty easy these
days)
The
latest version of Java is always the recommended version as it contains
updates and improvements to previous versions. You can confirm that you
have the latest version by visiting the Java Verification page.
Over time, you may have installed multiple versions of Java to run
available Java content. In the past, each Java update was installed in
separate directories on your system. However, Java updates are now
installed in a single directory.
Should I remove older versions of Java?
Java highly recommends users remove all older versions of Java from your
system. Keeping old and unsupported versions of Java on your system
presents a serious security risk. Removing older versions of Java from
your system ensures that Java applications will run with the most
up-to-date security and performance improvements on your system.
Close BPRocs (ROES) before proceeding.
Windows 7 and Vista - Uninstall Programs
Click Start
Select Control Panel
Select Programs
Click Programs and Features
Select the program you want to uninstall by clicking on it, and then
click the Uninstall button.
You may need administrator privileges to remove programs.
Windows XP - Uninstall Programs
Click Start
Select Control Panel
Click the Add/Remove Programs control panel icon
The Add/Remove control panel displays a list of software on your system,
including any Java software products that are on your computer. Select
any that you want to uninstall by clicking on it, and then click the
Remove button.
How to uninstall JavaFX from a Mac
Visit Java's website:
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/javafx_uninstall_mac.xml
-
Install
the latest version of Java
Visit the Java website and download the latest version of Java for your
computer:
http://java.com/en/download/chrome.jsp?locale=en
Now retry BPRocs (ROES)
90%
of the time, if you followed the steps above your issue with BPRocs
(ROES) will be resolved.
If not, scan the Advanced Troubleshooting Tips below or

BPRocs
(ROES) 'Books' Feature Things to Know
Our "Books' in BPRocs is the pro way to create and
album or book when many options are needed. Before using the Books
feature, it's important to have an efficient, well tuned computer with
at least 2+ GB of RAM. Here are a few things you might encounter:
Be patient. When adding pages and images, give your system time
to process what you're doing.
If your thumbnails on the book disappear, you may have clicked
"add to order" before you're done. To go back and edit your book
further, go to
'Review Order', choose 'Edit', and give the Book enough time to reload.
Please be patient as this can take a few minutes.
If a page won't flip to the next, there's something wrong with
the next page. Wait for the page to appear and using Designer, 'Right
Click', then "Reset Template' and recreate your page again.
Make sure there is a cover. If you don't see a cover in your
book, drag it down from the top window and recreate the cover and 'Add
to Order'.
If Designer stops working correctly, simple exit BPRocs by
clicking on the 'exit' button (not the X) and relaunch. The
book will be in your autosave to reload.
-
BPRocs
(ROES) 'Books' Feature locks up when using a saved Designer Book
Template ROES has stated that they never intended for
the "Templates" feature to be used with Books.
The fix is to stop using any & all Designer Books Templates when
creating or starting a book. (It will also lockup or not show thumbnails
if a previous book is opened.) To be sure that Templates aren't
being used with books, please delete all book templates in all
computers. Restart the computer (very important)
Alternative method for creating a book from a saved order Create a new book (be sure Templates or previous books are not used for
this new book) When the book is finished, Save as Incomplete order. Then when you're ready to start your next book, open that Incomplete
order and change the images/text as needed. (We have tested this here
and Books worked perfectly)
-
When uploading orders,
I'm having some problems with Internet Connection Interruption
especially on large 1000 mb orders. Any tip?
BPRocs is very intuitive when it comes
to uploading. If for some reason there's an interruption of your
internet service during the send process, it will automatically wait 5
minutes and attempt to reconnect and take up where it left off. It will
do this up to 5 times. Please check your BPRocs send Settings as
instructed below:
Verify your 'Send Settings' in BPRocs: 1. Click 'Open & Save' 2. Select 'Show Queued/Previous Orders' 3. Click 'Settings' 4. Verify that the 'Number of times to retry' is set to 5 5. Verify that the 'Minutes between retry attempts' is set to 5 6. Click 'OK
-
BPRocs erratic shutdown
/ windows & buttons, etc. not working normally
The
BPRocs program uses the universally accepted Java software usually
already loaded on your computer. Over time, more than one version
of Java may have been downloaded or Java has been corrupted. We
recommend removing all current Java versions and downloading a recent version to prevent erratic operation. (It may also free up some
space on your computers.)
How to remove all Java and then reinstall the recommended version of Java:
1. Click on your Windows 'Start' button 2. Click on 'Control Panel' then 'Add Remove Programs' 3. Scroll down to the 'J's' and remove each Java program that
begin with the word 'Java' or 'J2SE' 4. Restart computer (always a good idea before installing
any software.) 5. Download the latest recommended Java for your
computer -
http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp 6. Select the 'Save' option and place the download in your 'My
Documents' folder (note the name of this file) 7. After the program finished downloading, navigate to this file
in your 'My Documents' folder. 8. Click on this Java file to install. 9. Once Java is installed, go to
www.BullockPro.com, scroll down to the
black bar and click on the word 'Smart'. This will re-initialize your BPRocs using the new
version of Java just installed. 10. To reinstall the BPRocs shortcut on your desktop, see the
instructions below

BPRocs is slow or locks
up creating
an order When BPRocs attempts to create the
final order before sending, it temporarily needs hard drive space on
your computer before it begins sending the order via the internet.
Check the main (C:) hard drive on your computer and clean up any unused
programs or files. If you are uncomfortable with cleaning files on
the computer, contact your computer guru to walk you through this. It's a good idea to optimize your computer from time to time
for faster performance.
-
BPRocs is slow creating
(not sending) an order with several hundred images & locks up from time
to time This could be a Java issue on Vista
computers with large amounts of RAM (2GB+). We have a special launch
site which will double the amount of memory used by the Java application
that operates BPRocs. 1.) Open the Java Control Panel by clicking on:
START/CONTROL PANEL/SWITCH
TO CLASSIC VIEW 2.) Double Click the Java icon 3.) On the
General tab, under Temporary Internet Files
click on View to view the applications using Java 4.)
Right Click on the BPRocs application and
click Delete
5.)
Click OK and close the Java Control Panel window 6.) In the Windows Control Panel window, click
Switch to Category
View to return to the normal Control Panel view. 7.) To
get the memory update,
Note:
If you'd like to confirm that you are now using the 1GB+ Java launch
version open the Java Control Panel again (see steps 1-2 above) 1.) Click on
Advanced tab. Click on the +Java Console to
expand. Click on Show Console then Apply/OK 2.) Launch your BPRocs (that was installed from the link above) and
the Java Console will open as BPRocs launches. 3.)
This
will show the console as BPRocs is launching. The last line should look
something like this:
"Startup complete,
memory used/free/total/max [MB]: 32/19/51/1016, on 1
cores."
(The max value is what
you're looking for - if it's in the 500's you're not getting the 1GB
version.)
-
I've lost the
'Designer' templates window and can't find it
This can occur if you had
a window off to the side and change your screen resolution which moved
it off the visible are of your screen. To reset your BPRocs
windows, remove the .BullockPro.properties file which is located
in the .BullockPro folder under the user for the computer. Then go
to www.BPRocs.com
and click on the word 'Smart' to relaunch BPRocs from our website.
-
Preferences boxes
missing &/or graphics not showing correctly in BPRocs
BPRocs uses the standard WinXP program and icon
themes which may have been altered. Go to Control Panel/Appearance
and Themes/Change Computer's Theme/Themes tab - change theme from
'custom' back to the Standard WinXP theme.
-
What are some other reasons
the BPRocs won’t start or may not transmit to the lab?
There could be other rare reasons why BPRocs may not start up, or in
some cases not transmit to the lab. If you have cleaned up and installed
Java (see above) and things still aren't running smoothly, go
through these steps in order and always end with cleaning out Temporary
Internet Files:
1) Windows XP Service Pack 2 – Settings of the new Windows Firewall can
prevent the client from launching or creating an FTP connection. Try
turning the firewall off or set it to prompt for exceptions such as FTP.
2) Various Anti-Virus Applications – We have found that the home use
versions of the Norton Internet Security/Antivirus and McAfee Security
applications can prevent the client from starting. Try disabling these
temporarily if the client will not start and turning them back on after
successfully starting and installing shortcuts. To do this, open Control
Panel and Administrative Tools and go into Services. Find the Norton or
McAfee security services (proxy agent, firewall, network monitor, etc.),
right-click on them and select Stop.
3) Internet Explorer (IE) Security Settings – If set to high may block
the ActiveX calls made during the BPRocs launch. Try resetting Internet
Explorer’s security levels (found in IE under Tools – Internet Options –
Security tab) to default.
4) Internet Explorer Pop-Up Blocker – This is a new option that installs
with Windows XP SP2. Try turning this off in Internet Explorer under
Tools – Pop-up Blocker.
5) Clear out your Internet Explorer cache – This can be done in IE under
Tools – Internet Options. On the first tab, General, look in the center
section marked Temporary Internet Files and select Delete Files. Click
OK at the confirmation window, wait for the mouse pointer to return to
normal from the hourglass, and try the client launch again.
6) If you have run BPRocs before on the system and it is suddenly
failing with an Invocation Exception error, after clearing out Temporary
Internet Files in the steps above, remove the BPRocs application from
Java Web Start to ensure a fresh download and install. Select Start -
Run, type javaws.exe and press Enter. When the Java Web Application
Viewer opens, find the BPRocs/Bullock Professional application and
highlight it. In Java 1.4, select Application and Remove. In Java 1.5,
click the button at the bottom to Remove Selected Application. This will
remove BPRocs from your system along with any desktop shortcuts and call
Bullock Professional (704.982.2229) to get reinstallation instructions.
